15-year-old sensation Yathreb Adel was one of three Egyptian teenagers to successfully qualify into the $12,000 WISPA Southwest Open in Phoenix last night, as she ground out a straight-game decision over world #53 Misaki Kobayashi of Japan.

At last week’s Orange County Open in Irvine, California, Kobayshi reached the semi-finals while Adel served notice that she is an emerging star by getting to the finals after qualifying into the event.

Egyptians Salma Hany, 18, and Merhan Mahmoud, 19, straight-setted Thaisa Serafini of Brazil and Sephanie Edmison of Canada respectively to earn main draw placements.

In the final qualifying match, Sarah Cardwell of Australia beat Mexico’s Ivonne Diaz in 26 minutes.

The 2011 edition of the tournament is being staged at the luxurious Life Time Fitness facility in Tempe, Arizona.
