- Frenchman Joan Lezaud celebrated the first PSA World Tour title success of his career when he beat Jonathan Uriel Ramos Islas in the final of the Tour De Las Americas Costa Rica Open, the PSA Challenger 5 squash event in its second year at Costa Rica Tennis Club in the Costa Rica capital San Jose.

The 25-year-old from Aix-en-Provence reached the final after two successive five-game victories - in the semi-final overcoming Leandro Romiglio Fernandez, the unseeded Spaniard who removed top-seeded Mexican Erik Tepos Valtierra in the previous round.

And Mexican Islas also pulled off a notable quarter-final upset when he beat France's No2 seed Fabien Verseille en-route to reaching the final unseeded.

Lezaud twice led in the final - and Islas twice regained the advantage to draw level.

But the third-seeded Frenchman, ranked more than 45 places higher than his opponent, secured the upper hand in the decider to close out the match 11-7, 5-11, 11-6, 5-11, 11-5.

Final:
[3] Joan Lezaud (FRA) bt Jonathan Uriel Ramos Islas (MEX) 11-7, 5-11, 11-6, 5-11, 11-5
