Bob Hanscom Handicaps Last Night's Action

Dipika Pallikal (IND) v Maria Toor Pakay (PAK)

The prediction: Pallikal over Pakay, 3-1.
The reality: Dipika Pallikal beat Maria Toor Pakay 3-0.
Comment: Maria has some way to go before she makes a predicted WSA break-through.

Latasha Khan (US) v Kanzy El-Defrawy (EGY)

The prediction: Defrawy in five!
The reality: Latasha Khan beat Kanzy Emad El-Defrawy 8/11, 11/8. 14/12, 7/11, 11/8.
Comment: Well, we got the game score correct, but reversed! But we're happy to see our many-time American champion pull it out in the fifth.

Jaclyn Hawkes (NZL) v Nicolette Fernandez (GUY)

The prediction: Hawkes in three over Fernandez.
The reality: Jaclyn Hawkes beat Nicolette Fernandes in five, 12-10 in the fifth!

Nour El Tayeb (EGY) v Kristen Lange (US)

The prediction: Tayeb in three over Lange.
The reality: Nour El Tayeb beat Kristen Lange in three straight games. Comment: As predicted, but good effort from Kristen.

Sarah Kippax (ENG) v Sam Cornett (CAN)

The prediction: Kippax in four over Cornett.
The reality: Sam Cornett beat Sarah Kippax 11/6, 2/11, 11/4, 5/11, 11/5.
Comment: Bit of a surprise but predicted to be an even match, which did go a tough five games.

Donna Urquhart (AUS) v Coline Aumard (FRA)

The Prediction: Urquhart in three over Aumard
The reality: Donna Urquhart beat Coline Aumard three straight.
Comment: Too much experience from Donna for Aumard to be competitive.

Misaki Kobayashi (JPN) v Amanda Sobhy (US)

The Prediction: Sobhy should prevail, perhaps in four games.
The reality: Amanda Sobhy beat Misaki Kobayashi three straight.
Comment: A little easier than thought from the former world junior champion Amanda.

Alison Waters (ENG) v Brigit Coufal (AUT)

The Prediction: Should be a one-sided affair, with Waters winning in three.
The reality: Alison Waters beat Brigit Coufal three straight.
Comment: Pretty-much as predicted, with Brigit needing more experience.

Well...not bad on the predictions, i.e. six for eight with a couple of close ones! Now...the predictions for tonight's matches, all times east coast!

5.00 pm Dipika Pallikal V Latasha Khan: Once again, we hope Latasha plays well, but this time the up-and-coming #1 from India should prevail, perhaps in four games.

5.45 pm Nour El Tayeb V Jaclyn Hawkes: With Nour having an easy time of it in the first round - and Jaclyn having to go a tough five, my money has to be on Nour, again perhaps in four games.

7.00 pm Sam Cornett V Donna Urquhart: Once again, Donna having an easy first round - and Samantha having to go a long five, the advantage has to go with Donna in four games.

7.45 pm Alison Waters V Amanda Sobhy: Former world #3 is definitely on her come-back trail and will give Amanda quite a run, probably winning in three straight games. We wish our American world junior champion all the best in the match however.

Stay tuned!
