September Men's Rankings: Mueller Marks Historic Swiss Move
from PSA Media

1 September 2012 - While the top five positions in the new Dunlop PSA Men's World Squash Rankings remain unchanged, Nicolas Mueller makes history by becoming the first Swiss player to achieve a world top 20 ranking.

Mueller moves up three places to No20 in the September list published today by the Professional Squash Association.

It was two years that the 23-year-old from Zurich became the highest-ranked player from Switzerland after breaking into the top 40. The former European Junior champion, who became a professional in 2005, has already notched up seven PSA World Tour titles from nine final appearances.

England's James Willstrop extends his lead ahead of fellow countryman Nick Matthew to head the list for the eighth month since January.

Frenchman Gregory Gaultier holds onto third place - ahead of Egypt's Ramy Ashour, who successfully defended his Australian Open title last month, at No4.

Karim Darwish is in fifth place, while fellow Egyptian Amr Shabana, the four-time world champion, moves up to No6.

But Egypt now has a 50% stranglehold of the top ten after Omar Mosaad rises two places to make his top ten debut at No10. Runner-up to Ashour in Canberra, the 24-year-old from Cairo was celebrating his third Tour final appearance in four events after winning the HKFC Meco Invitational and KL Open in March.

And England's Tom Richards rubs shoulders with compatriot Daryl Selby, the world No11, by moving up four places to a best-ever No12. The 26-year-old from Surrey, winner of the Open de Squash Banque Nationale Groupe Financier in Canada in March, claimed a semi-final berth in the Australian Open last month.
