- Montreal’s Shawn Delierre defeated world #62 Julien Balbo of Grenoble, France, in straight games last night to earn a well-deserved main draw spot in the PSA $115,000 US Open at Drexel University in Philadelphia.

Delierre prevailed over the 32-year-old Balbo 11-5, 11-7 and 11-6 in 45 minutes to earn his first spot in a main draw of a PSA World Series event since 2008.

It was the Canadian's 2nd qualifying win in 24 hours at the storied suburban Philadelphia Merion Cricket Club. On Wednesday night, he dismantled the top US player and world #27 Julian Illingworth in 31 minutes.

The 54th-ranked Delierre is the lone North American man to make it through the qualifying draw. Six American players including Illingworth lost in first round qualifying matches on Wednesday.

Delierre will face 17th-ranked English southpaw Adrian Grant at noon EST Saturday on the glass court at Drexel.
