El Sherbini Captures PST Bobcat Classic In Maine from DailySquashReport.com
September 30, 2011-
Mohamed El Sherbini of Egypt beat four-time El Salvador national
champion Ricky Weisskopf in an entertaining five-game final Sunday to
capture the Pro Squash Tour (PST) Bobcat Classic at Bates College.
It was the second PST title for El Sherbini out of three events this season. The young Egyptian from
Alexandria defeated Gareth Webber of Wales in August to win the 2011-12
tour opener, the San Diego Open in California.
The subsequent PST event, the Mohawk Open in New York, was won by
John White over Bradley Ball in a contentious match that resulted in
a 30-day suspension handed down to Ball for referee dissent.
The Bobcat Classic also featured the intriguing Pro Squash Tour debut
of 2009 Women’s Intercollegiate Champion Nour Baghat. Nour lost
in three to Ireland’s Sean Wilkinson, but she competed admirably.
Bates College is home to two of the nation's top 20 squash programs.
Amateur draws and clinics filled out an impressive weekend of squash
during the Bates homecoming weekend.
Next on tap for the PST Tour is the October 21-24 Boston Open.
