Semis Set In WISPA Washington, DC - North Americans Out from DailySquashReport.com

Top-seeds Siyoli Waters of South Africa and Lauren Selby of England
were quarterfinal winners yesterday in the $6,000 Dread Sports WISPA
Open at the Sports Club/LA in DC, with no North Americans reaching the
semis.
Waters, world ranked at #51, will take on third-seeded and WISPA #53
Misaki Kobayashi of Japan in the first semi-final, while second seed
#57 Selby will face fifth-seeded Merhan Amr Mahmoud of Egypt in the nightcap.
In decidedly lopsided quarter-final matches, Kobayashi beat Canadian
Genevieve Lessard 11-3, 11-5, 11-2 in 19 minutes and Waters dispatched
Katie Tutrone of the US 11-3, 11-3, 11-7 in 18 minutes.
In the other two quarters, Mahmoud needed four games to get past
Sabrina Sobhy (11-4, 6-11, 12- 10, 11-8), a first-round upset winner
over Stephanie Edmison of Canada, while Selby beat Sally Skaarenborg of
Denmark, also in four (10-12, 11-3, 11-4, 11-3).
Americans Niki Clement and Camille Lanier were first-round losers on
Thursday, as were Canadians Edmison and former national junior champion
Alix Younger.
