The Classic Squash Novel 'The Club From Hell' Published on Amazon in Support of World Squash Day and Unicef by Ted Gross
September 30, 2015
- 'The Club From Hell', the first great collaborative serial novel with
a thematic connection to the sport of squash, is available on Amazon, with all proceeds going to Unicef by way of World Squash Day (October 10th).
In the spring of 2012 I approached Steve Cubbins of Squashsite UK with
a vague idea for a serial novel. Steve embraced the idea and came up
with the title and and penned Chapter 1, in which a somewhat disjointed
London family takes over a struggling squash club. Mick Joint continued
Chapter 2 where Steve left off, and when an overhead heating unit falls
on poor club member Walter on court 4, unfortunately finishing him off,
the plot was set (sort of).
As John Branston pointed out, by the midway point the novel had crossed
both the ocean and the bounds of credibility a few times, but Alan
Thatcher eventually tied up the multiple on and off-court loose ends at
a tournament showdown in Philadelphia.
'The Club From Hell' is 248 pages long and is $15 US.
