David And Weleily First To Qualify For World Series Finals from WSA Media
October 19, 2012
- Following their Delaware Investments U.S. Open clash last week, both
Nicol David and Raneem El Weleily have amassed enough World Series
points to cement places in January’s World Series Finals.
Alongside other World Series events so far in 2012, the CIMB Nicol
David KL Open, British Open and Malaysian Open all give players World
Series Standing points as well as their World Rankings points.
David’s World Series finals against Annie Au, Nour El Sherbini and two
against Raneem El Weleily put her in pole position in the Standings,
allowing her the opportunity to retain the title she claimed at Queens
Club in London back in January.
Two semi-finals and two final appearances for Raneem El Weleily have
also put the Egyptian in the running for the event, the first time she
has qualified for the competition.
Also currently in the running for the 2012 Finals, to be held again in
London in January, are world No.2 Laura Massaro, as well as Nour EL
Sherbini, Annie Au, Jenny Duncalf, Low Wee Wern and Madeline Perry.
Joelle King and Camille Serme are currently just short of qualifying
for the event, with just two World Series events left in the 2012
calendar. Just behind them are Alison Waters, Kasey Brown and
Rachael Grinham who will be looking to make the most of opportunities
in the forthcoming Cathy Pacific Sun Hung Kai Hong Kong Open in
November and the Cayman Islands World Open in December.
