White Oaks Renames Squash Facility in Memory of Mark Sachvie from Squash Canada Media
October 19, 2014 - OTTAWA (ON) –White
Oaks Resort & Spa honoured the memory of Mark Sachvie its long-time
employee on Friday October 17, by renaming its squash facility “The
Mark Sachvie Squash Centre @ White Oaks”.
Sachvie who spent 32
years at White Oaks, died suddenly on November 30, 2013 of a heart
attack. Mark was also the President of Squash Ontario and at the
time of his death both the Racquets Director at White Oaks and the
Women’s World Team Squash Championship Director which is slated to take
place December 1 - 6 at White Oaks.
“What a fitting
tribute to one of games great squash builders. Mark built a thriving
junior squash culture at White Oaks, he developed numerous Canadian
squash champions, developed 3 generations of players and touched
thousands of squash players from all around the world with his love of
the game”, said Danny Da Costa Executive Director of Squash Canada who
worked alongside Sachvie at White Oaks as Tennis Director and at Squash
Canada.
Da Costa added that
renaming the courts at White Oaks solidifies Mark’s legacy. “Mark
will always remain a part of White Oaks in life and death, its great
that White Oaks will continue his legacy by renaming the squash
facility after him”.
