After playing six matches yesterday, and an
hour's coaching, plus some similar effects to you after the post-match
refreshments, then coaching for another three hours this morning, my
back is in something of a permanent bow at the moment!
Thank you to everyone for the kind words.
It was great for clubs to feel part of something special, and we have
received a number of emails from squash people with 30 years'
experience saying that yesterday was the most enjoyable event they had
ever taken part in. So it's obvious that hundreds of clubs caught the
mood and put on some real fun events.
Globally and strategically, World Squash
Day generated some significant publicity with several TV and radio
features, plus newspaper and website coverage. We know that several
reports appeared in websites and publications that are read by the IOC,
so we can only hope that the message sinks in.
It would have been nice to have seen more involvement from clubs in the US... and Egypt, and Canada, and everywhere, I guess.
I feel like I'm acting out one of the final scenes in Schindler's List.
"We could have got more......"
For a group of volunteers, doing all this for the love of the game, I think we did OK.
I would love to hear some ideas for next year!
Alan
