Inaugural ‘Re-Bound’ Drive A Huge Success by Nathan Clarke
October 21, 2015 -
The Professional Squash Association have hailed the success of their
first ever ‘Re-Bound’ collection drive after over 150 items of used
squash equipment were collected at the recent Delaware Investments U.S.
Open.
The ‘Re-Bound’ initiative is aimed at helping established squash
outreach programmes in countries such as Zimbabwe, South Africa, India
and Colombia improve their level of service and accessibility by
recycling squash equipment - from used squash balls to unwanted rackets
and clothing – collected at Major PSA tournaments across the Globe, in
partnership with leading squash charity NUSEA (National Urban Squash
Education Programme).
Almost 60 rackets, 30 items of squash clothing, 20 racket bags and 20
pairs of squash shoes - alongside other items such as safety goggles,
balls and string - were collected and will now be split between NUSEA’s
international programmes.
“We have been blown away by the results of our very first collection at
the U.S. Open in what has been an incredibly successful initiative that
has exceeded all of our pre-tournament expectations,” said PSA CSR and
Welfare Development Officer Adriana Olaya.
“The donations we have received will now go directly towards enriching
the lives of disadvantaged individuals in some of the most deprived
areas around the world.”
