- Egyptian teenager Mariam Metwally picked up the second WSA World Tour
title of her career after prevailing in the surprise final of the
Women's Open D'Italia, the inaugural WSA Tour 10 squash event at the
Centro Sportivo del Plebiscito in Padua, Italy.
The 17-year-old fourth
seed took on New Zealander Amanda Landers-Murphy in the final after
both players upset higher-ranked opponents in the semis - Metwally
taking out second-seeded Czech Lucie Fialova and third seed
Landers-Murphy ousting Irish favourite Aisling Blake to reach the 12th
Tour final of her career.
But the Egyptian
youngster was too strong for the 23-year-old Kiwi in the final - coming
through 11-8, 11-3, 11-6 to maintain her 100% success rate in WSA Tour
finals.
