New Squash Center Construction Complete at Poly Prep School in Brooklyn by Ben Oliner and Meredeth Quick
October 30, 2015
- Construction of the new Squash center at Poly Prep School is now
complete. While the school awaits the final permits before being open
to play, the building is now fully constructed featuring 6 brand new
squash courts -including two four-wall glass show courts. The video
below show a time lapse of the construction of the center. Alongside
Poly Prep's existing 3 courts, the private school's Dyker Heights
Brooklyn campus with students in 5th-12th grade will now have 9 squash
courts on campus and be the biggest squash facility in NYC. In addition
to accommodating the 150 students involved in our daily programming,
the new center is also the home of former World Champion Peter Nicol's
elite Nicol Junior Champions Academy as well as the Brooklyn base to
CitySquash, the urban enrichment program that works with 4th and 5th
grade students from PS 163 and Pave Academy on a daily basis.
Throughout the season we will also be hosting a number of events including:
US Squash Silver Tournament Nov 20-22
Poly Prep HS Invitational drawing 10 Boys and Girls Varsity teams from PA, NJ, NY, and CT, December 12th
Poly Prep MS Invitational drawing 8 MS teams, January 9th
Blue Devil Challenge Skill Level Tournament featuring professionals, Febuary 6-7, 2016
We look forward to welcoming everyone to the new center on our campus!
