Team Canada Arrives In Nimes For Women's World Championship by Danny Da Costa

– Team Canada arrived in Nimes, France today as they prepare to
compete in the Women’s World Team Championship that runs from November
12th to 17th.
Team Canada members Sam Cornett (Ottawa), Steph Edmison (Toronto), Alex
Norman (Montreal), and Susie King (Calgary) will be in tough when they
open the championship against defending champions Australia on November
12th. The 11th seeded Canadians have been placed in a pool with 6th
seeded Australia and 18th seeded Austria; Canada will need to finish in
the top two to advance to the knockout stage.
Squash Canada director Danny Da Costa is excited about the opportunity
for Team Canada’s this year. “We have an experienced team; Sam,
Steph, and Alex are all back from the previous world championship.
There are a lot of accomplished teams at this event, but I believe
these ladies are going to make a name for Canada on the world stage.”
About the 2012 Women’s World Team Championship
The Women’s World Team Championship brings together 26 of the top
female national squash teams every 2 years to crown a world champion.
Teams of four athletes from each country will vie against each other to
win the title for their country. Australia aims to defend its title and
win a record 10th championship, while six time champion England will
look to deny Australia and return to the top of the squash world.
