Iconic Australian Open Returns To PSA World Tour by Nathan Clarke November 11, 2014 -
The iconic Australian Open, squash's flagship tournament in Australia,
will return to the PSA World Tour in 2015 for the first time since 2012
when Melbourne will play host to the event from August 3 - August 9.
Last staged in Canberra in 2012, the Australian Open is the most
prestigious title on offer in the Australasian territory and returns
courtesy of a three-year agreement reached between Squash Australia and
Squash and Racquetball Victoria and will begin it's resumption on the
PSA World Tour as an International 25 tournament.
"We're very excited to be bringing the Australian Open back to the
professional circuit and look forward to what we are sure will be a
fantastic event in Melbourne," said Squash and Racquetball Victoria
Executive Director Fiona Young.
"The Australian Open is a tournament with huge prestige and history and
we're delighted to be able to bring the title back to the tour in what
will be an amazing week of squash in Australia and we hope to build on
the tournament’s history throughout our three-year hosting of the
competition."
