-In the opening round of pool play at the 2012 Women's World Team
Championships, the US women battled hard but fell decisively to New
Zealand, three matches to none.
Thirty-five-year-old US #1 Natalie Grainger hung in as best she could
for two games with current WSA star Joelle King but lost 11-9 11-8 11-5.
Sabrina Sobhy at #2 lost to Jaclyn Hawkes 11-4 11-9 11-3, and Olivia
Fiechter made a strong run at New Zealand #3 Kylie Lindsay, falling
11-9 in the fourth.
The US women now face a beatable Japan contingent for a spot in main draw.
Note: Maria Elena Ubina has replaced an injured Kristen Lange on the US squad and is slotted in the alternate position.
