Laura Massaro has been named
Female Player of the Month for November by the authoritative
London-based Squash Player magazine for winning the U.S. Open in
October, her first World Series title since March 2014.
Twice the 31-year-old from England fought back to keep alive her hopes
of a second U.S. Open success – from 0/2 down in the quarter-finals
against world champion Nicol David and from 1/2 in the finalagainst
Egypt’s Nour El Tayeb.
“Overall I have been enjoying my squash and may be with a bit less
expectation on me since my ranking dropped, I have been playing more
relaxed but focused squash,” explained the world no.3.
Massaro’s triumph in Philadelphia continued her outstanding opening to
the 2015-16 season, as she also won the Macau Open in September.
“I put the good start down to a lot of hard work through the summer,”
she said. “I have been working hard technically with David Pearson and
I have had some reallygood improvements that have kept me excited about
my technique. I have alsobeen training with Mark Campbell, and his
advice and training methods have helped me no end.
“Now I know that I'm on the right track with my physical training, I
want to carry on playing my best squash and keep winning titles if I
can.”
