- The ATCO PSA World Series Squash Finals will make a welcome
return to the home of racquet sports this January when the world’s best
players head to Queen’s Club from 2nd - 6th January for the most
prestigious squash event of the season.
Only the eight best performers from the World Series events on the PSA
and the WSA tours will qualify for the ATCO PSA World Series Squash
Finals. Winner of last year’s first ever WSA World Series Final,
Nicol David of Malaysia will return to defend her title, who, along
with world No.2 Raneem El Weleily of Egypt are currently the only WSA
contingent to have qualified for the event. But Laura Massaro
will most likely join the pair in her home country, with Annie Au, Nour
El Sherbini, Jenny Duncalf, Low Wee Wern and Madeline Perry all poised
to qualify.
Other top names include Joelle King, Alison Waters and Camille Serme
who could all qualify for the event in the remaining two World Series
events of the year. The Cathy Pacific Hong Kong Open starts at
the end of November, with the year culminating in the World Open in the
Cayman Islands on from the 16th of December.
The men’s player field looks set to include a host of top names
including world No.1 & 2 James Willstrop and Nick Matthew, as well
as former world champions Ramy Ashour and Karim Darwish.
The high-octane World Series Finals action will take place in the
spectacular glass 'Z-Court', which has been designed to ensure
uninterrupted 360 degree views of the action and uses the latest
technology in glass construction to make the ATCO PSA World Series
Squash Finals a unique experience for spectators. Sky Sports will be
televising the event through its thrilling final weekend with live
streaming available on Squash TV throughout the week.
Queen’s Club has a rich history of hosting world class sporting events.
It is home of the world famous AEGON Championships tennis event each
June and the Club has also hosted the British World and Open Rackets
and the British World and Open Real Tennis championships.
