World Squash Day took place on 20 October, and is a main feature of this update.
To the over 40,000 players who participated, to the professionals who also took part in Macau and San Francisco, to all the club organisers and the venues themselves; we salute and thank you all.
WSD demonstrated yet again the passion for our sport right across the globe, from the Pacific, through Asia and into Africa, Europe and Pan America. Over seventy countries were involved, from large established ones through to the very smallest – each with great enthusiasm, as evidenced by the great gallery of photographs on www.worldsquashday.com.
Also reported upon in this Update was the recent WSF AGM & Conference, from which you will read that Chris Stahl who has stood down as Vice President, after a wonderfully committed period of service, has been replaced by Belgian Hugo Hannes.
There is also a new look to several of the WSF Committee and Commission Chairs and Directors. They will be forging ahead with plans in the coming year.
Meanwhile, re-elected President Ramachandran is devoting himself to doing everything possible towards a successful outcome for the Olympic bid. For now, thank you again to everybody who supported WSD, and your thoughts and suggestions to Lorraine, Jazz and myself will be very welcome at any time, as ever.
