3RD NOV 2015 - Camille Serme booked her place in a 12th consecutive PSA World Tour quarter-final courtesy of a gutsy five-game win over American number one Amanda Sobhy in the 2015 Qatar Classic.

The Frenchwomen has made it to the semi-finals in all of her last three PSA World Series tournaments, including triumphing at the prestigious British Open, and she put in the performance of a genuine title contender in Doha as she managed to find a way past the dangerous left-hander in 57-minutes.

Sobhy had won their past two meetings on the PSA World Tour and got off to the perfect start by taking the first game 11-4. Serme levelled after taking the second 13-11 in a gritty tie-break before the duo traded games again in the third and fourth as momentum swing back and forth. With little between them they traded points in a succession of intense rallies in the fifth before Serme sealed it 11-9 to move into the last four to face Nour El Sherbini.

“Amanda beat me that last two times we played, so mentally, I really wanted my revenge today,” said Serme.

“But in the first game, her length was so good and she won it easily so I thought I was on the way to a defeat again but I didn’t panic. She had nothing to lose and went for it but I tried to get in front of her on the court and luckily it worked.”

Result:
[3] Camille Serme (FRA) bt [14] Amanda Sobhy (USA) 3-2: 4-11, 13-11, 11-8, 5-11, 11-9 (57m)
