- Campbell Grayson has been named Squash Player’s Male Player of the
Month for November after winning the biggest title of his career in
October at the $17,000 Chicago Open.
The 30-year-old New Zealander collected his 11th PSA Tour trophy by
rallying from 2/0 down to upset top seed Greg Lobban in the final, his
third successive five-setter.
“I put the success in Chicago down firstly to just hanging in there and
fighting it out,” he said. “From the quarter-finals onwards I was in
positions where I was nearly finished, but managed to come back and
win.
“I also felt I had been playing well leading up to Chicago and was due
a tournament win. This is because of the hard work I had been putting
in with my coach. My girlfriend was with me for the week as well and
was great support.
“I would rank this as an important achievement in my career, because I
had only previously won one 15k tournament, but felt that the draw in
Chicago was much stronger and this was the biggest-sized tournament I
had won. Also, winning three 3/2 battles in a row was good for my
confidence.”
