Adrian Leanza, Yasser Kamel To Square Off For PST Philadelphia Title

December 17, 2011 - Sunday’s Philadelphia Championship match features two players with starkly different styles. Adrian Leanza is young and wants to run. Yasser Kamel is a wily veteran with quick hands and a delicate touch. Fans are in for a treat as these two will battle for the Championship at 11:45 a.m EST.
Saturday, Dec. 17: Semi-final Matches
Adrian Leanza beats Ibrahim Nyanzi 11-3, 10-12, 11-6, 11-3
Yasser Kamel beats Nathan Ticho 16-14, 11-3, 11-6
Ibrahim was slow to get started today and did not look himself during the first game. Game 2 saw a very different level of competition as Adrian Leanza and Ibrahim Nyanzi criss-crossed the court in a brilliant game that Ibrahim pulled out with some great shot making. Leanza, regarded by his peers as one of the fittest players on tour, just kept picking up Nyanzi's shots in games three and four. Nyanzi on several occasions sought to win the point prematurely and hit the tin on several unforced errors. PST Commissioner Joe McManus is pleased with Ibrahim's progress. "He's a different player now than we saw in Boston several weeks back. I expect he will continue to improve on this tour and get some more quality wins."
Yasser Kamel and Nathan Ticho battled to a tie break in game 1. Both players had several opportunities to close out the game, and both players saved their best shots for the moment they needed them. Deadlocked at 14, Kamel won an appeal to the referee which Ticho challenged. The challenge was not upheld and it appeared to frustrate Ticho. The next rally was over quickly as Kamel closed out the game. Ticho never really rebounded from the first game loss, and Kamel seemed in control throughout the second and third games. A strained calf muscle limited Ticho's movement, and Kamel kept him going to all corners. It was only a matter of time before the match would go to Kamel.
