-- Let's see...six first-place titles and six runner-ups for Egypt, one
first place title each for Pakistan, England, Malaysia, America and one
runner-up each for Colombia, England and Barbados in the 2019 U.S.
Junior Open Squash Championships! What is it with these 12 junior
Egyptians...dominating the game of junior squash!? Well...nothing new
really, as in the professional ranks...Egyptian players do too! For the
men, six of the top-ten world-ranked players are from Egypt! For the
women, five of the top-ten world-ranked players are from Egypt!
So...why are the Egyptian squash-players so dominant!? Is it the
talent? Is it the coaching? Is it the work-ethic? Is it the depth and
numbers of players they have!? Is it the resources they have to support
all the above!? What is it!? Just perhaps it's all the above! This
combination of talent, coaching, work-ethic, depth and resources would
be successful in producing champions in any sport...in any country! If
a country decides to emphasize and concentrate their efforts on any
particular sport, they are bound to be successful! So all...it will be
interesting to see if and/or just when China decides that SQUASH just
might be a game they would like to see their kids play...we say, watch
out!
