What: Part-time Squash Pro I am looking for a
dedicated, organized person with strong teaching, organizational, and
communication skills, who is energized by the prospect of interacting
with and expanding a marvelous group of squash players. Specific
activities include teaching lessons to our 70+ club members, running
weekly clinics for adults, and providing classes for a small but
growing group of juniors. There is also the possibility to develop
junior programs with the many schools in our area.
Who might be a good candidate for this job? This is a part-time
position; therefore, it would be a great opportunity for a squash coach
who has played college squash and wants to stay involved in squash yet
not make it her or his profession. Given that Madison is home to the
University of Wisconsin-Madison, this could be a terrific opportunity
for a former college player who wants to continue his or her education,
or for someone who has played professionally and has decided to return
to school for a college degree. We can offer you a place to continue
your involvement in squash and time enough to pursue your education (or
other endeavors) as well.
Where: Madison Squash Workshop, Madison, Wisconsin, USA Madison Squash
Workshop has four courts and a small, active membership. We have strong
participation in box leagues, team leagues, and tournaments. MSW has
hosted five professional squash tournaments and is now a highlight for
many up-and-coming professional squash players. (Photos available here.)
Madison is an
incredible place to live and learn. It is the capital of Wisconsin and
is home to the University of Wisconsin, one of the pre-eminent research
institutions in the United States, as well as Edgewood College, a
small, private college on the shore of one of Madison’s 4 lakes, and
Madison College, the local community college (other institutes of
higher education are located within 100 miles of Madison).
Pay: As an independent
contractor, you can define the scope of your position from lessons,
clinics, and junior programs, to general club operations. Here’s a
place you can learn how to operate a squash club, without the risk of
actually having to build it yourself! Compensation is negotiable, and
generates primarily from the level of activity within the club, such as
earnings from giving lessons, clinics, leagues, junior programs, and
tournaments. Pro-shop and stringing revenue is also available.
