January 17, 2013 - Montreal's Shawn Delierre continued an amazing run tonight when he shut down North American rival Julian Illingworth of the US in straight games to gain a coveted main draw slot in the $115,000 JP Morgan Tournament of Champions in New York City.

On Sunday, Delierre needed 157 minutes to beat England's Adrian Waller to win the National Capital Open, a match which went into the record books as the longest in the history of PAR scoring, and the longest pro match of any kind in more than 30 years.

In that same event, Delierre weathered a 114-minute quarterfinal against Campbell Grayson of New Zealand and a difficult semi against longtime Canadian #1 Shahier Razik.

Then in yesterday's first round TOC qualifier, with just two days off after the historic match, Shawn needed 91 minutes to stop Muhammed Azan of Malaysia 11-8 in the fourth.

Twenty four hours later, Delierre recovered sufficiently to topple the higher-ranked #1 American Illingworth 11-6 11-6 11-7.

He will take on Egyptian Tarek Momen tonight in first round action on the glass at Grand Central.
