Trinity Women's Squash Edged By Penn At Home by David Kingsley

- Maria Stephen won the clinching match, 3-0, with a 17-15 victory in
the third game to lead the visiting University of Pennsylvania Quakers
to a 5-4 win over the Trinity College Bantams in women's squash action
this afternoon at Kellner Center. Trinity, ranked No. 6 in the
nation, fall to 7-2 with its first loss in eight matches, while No.
2-ranked Penn improves to 7-1 with its third straight win.
Trinity
led, 2-1, after the first wave as sophomores Julia LeCoq (Creteil,
France) and Karolina Holinkova (Krnov, Czech Republic) posted 3-1 wins
at the third and sixth spots on the ladder, respectively. The
Quakers swept the middle wave to take away the momentum, however, to
take a 4-2 lead. In the third wave, Trinity senior co-captain
Sachika BalvaniMumbai, India) came through with a 3-2 win at the No. 7
position over Haida Lala and senior co-captain Kanzy El Defrawy(Cairo,
Egypt) took an injury default victory at the top of the lineup, but
Stephen finished on top in three close matches against Bantam junior
Anna Kimberley(Colchester, England), 12-10, 12-10, 17-15, to clinch it
for the visitors.
