Trinity Men Down Rochester 7-2

January 25, 2014 Hartford, Conn. - First-year Affeeq Ismail(Kuching, Malaysia) won of four early matches for the Trinity College Bantams, sweeping his opponent in the No. 8 position in the lineup by a combined score of 33-11, to lead the Trinity College Bantams to a 7-2 victory over the visiting University of Rochester Yellowjackets in men's squash action this afternoon at Kellner Center. Defending National Champion Trinity, ranked No. 1 in the nation, remains perfect this year at 11-0 with its 30th straight win and its 161st consecutive victory at home. No. 5-Ranked Rochester drops to 6-3 with its second straight setback.

Trinity senior captain Matthew Mackin(Greenwich, Conn.) made quick work of his No. 9 opponent with an 11-5, 11-4, 11-7 win, and sophomore Zeyad Elshorafy(Alexandria, Egypt), Ismail, and junior Elroy Leong(Selangor, Malaysia) won shortly after to give the Bantams a 4-0 lead. Rochester's Mario Yanez won, 3-1, over Bantam junior Vrishab Kotian(Mumbai, India) at No. 3, but Trinity junior Moustafa HamadaAlexandria, Egypt) answered with a 3-0 win to give the Bantams the win after six matches. Sophomores Karan Malik(Mumbai, India) and Juan Vargas(Bogota, Colombia) added wins for Trinity, and Neil Cordell won for Rochester a the No. 1 spot.
