Updated January Women's Pro Rankings from WSA Media
January 2, 2012 - Jenny Duncalf returns to the WSA World Rankings Top 10 following a strong World Open finish in December.
The Englishwoman, ranked at world No.2 for over two years, had slipped
out of the WSA elite due to the 2012 World Open falling a month later
than the previous year. Duncalf, the 2011 finalist, lost out on
her ranking average in December’s rankings but has bounced back to
occupy No.8 this month after reaching the semi-finals in the Cayman
Islands.
Hong Kong Open runner-up, Camille Serme also leapt 4 ranking places to
No.9 after a positive end to the year, with Annie Au dropping two
places to tenth, to comprise an otherwise unchanged Top 10.
A semi-final appearance in Hong Kong, followed by a quarter-final in
the Cayman Islands World Open has seen Natalie Grinham rise back up to
No.12, whilst Omneya Abdel Kawy is the biggest mover in the
Top20. The Egyptian’s semi-final appearance in Hong Kong pushed
her up five places to fifteenth, her highest ranking since September
2011.
Emily Whitlock rises two places for the new year after finishing 2012
by winning back-to-back Madison Open and Colwyn Classic events.
The English teenager now sits world No.25, another career high for the
eighteen-year-old.
Nicolette Fernandes rises an impressive 16 places to No.32 following a
surprise second round finish in front of a home crowd during the Cayman
Islands World Open. The Guyanese player currently sits at her
highest ranking since dropping out of the Top30 in 2007.
Amanda Landers-Murphy continues to improve on her highest ranking,
again rising three place to occupy No.36, one place ahead of Siyoli
Waters of South Africa, who rises nine places to No.37.
Victoria Lust and Deon Saffrey break into the Top50 after both climbing
five-places to 49 and 50, respectively. This is a career high
ranking for Welshwoman Saffrey, who reached the semi-finals of the
Colwyn Classic in December.
