- The focus switched in Sheffield today - after two days of constant
action across several courts, the quarter-finals at the Abbeydale and
Hallamshire clubs took place largely (at Abbeydale exclusively) on one
court, from 09.30 until it's done.
At Abbeydale the day
started with wins for the top seeds in the four categories being played
there - Boys U19 and U13, Girls U19 and U15 - and some 12 hours later
ended with Ahmad Alsaraj joining his younger brother, who won earlier
in the day at Hallamshire, in the semi-finals.
In between there was
lots of drama at both venues, but the standout moment at Abbeydale was
George Parker's win over 3/4 seed Richie Fallows in a tempestuous
all-English U19 battle.
In the Girls U19 it
will be Egypt's top four seeds who contest the semi-finals, while the
Boys U19 semis will feature players from four different countries.
