Top Seeds John Russell/John White Toppled In William White Semifinal Stunner by Rob Dinerman
Dateline January 5th
--- Top seeds and SDA pro tour standouts John Russell and John White,
U. S. Open semifinalists just last month when they beat Preston Quick
and Matt Jenson, had a two games to love lead evaporate in the face of
a determined rally by Imran Khan and Todd Ruth this afternoon at the
Merion Cricket Club in the semifinal round of the 51st edition of the
prestigious William White Invitational. The host club's famed stadium
court witnessed a second highly surprising outcome immediately
afterwards in the bottom-half semi as well, in which second seeds
Trevor McGuinness and Whitten Morris, four-time champions in this
tournament (in 2008-10 and 2012), were out-played in a competitive but
convincing four games by James Stout and Jacques Swanepoel. The final
is scheduled for Sunday afternoon.
