Trinity's Tidman Named As Finalist For Prestigious Women's Squash Richey Award by David Kingsley
February 11, 2015 Hartford, Conn.
- Trinity College senior co-captain Ashley Tidman (Lamor-Plage, France)
was selected as one of just three national finalists for the 2015
Richey Women's Squash Award, given annually to the women's player who
best exemplifies the ideals of squash in her love of and devotion to
the game, her strong sense of fairness, and her excellence of play and
leadership.
Trinity, coached by Wendy Bartlett (31st Season), has a 15-1 record,
after winning its ninth consecutive New England Small College Athletic
Conference (NESCAC) Championship crown over the weekend, and will
defend its 2014 College Squash Association (CSA) National Team
Championship (Howe Cup) title this weekend at Harvard.
Tidman, a three-time All-NESCAC honoree, is 14-2 this year in her
fourth season as a starter in the middle of Trinity's lineup. A
political science major, Tidman played a pivotal role in Trinity’s 5-4
win over Harvard in last season’s national championship final. In 2013,
Tidman was half of the winning pair of the Women’s Intercollegiate
Doubles Championship. She has been named a Second Team All-American
(2014) and a member of the All-NESCAC teams three times(2012, 2013, and
2014). A graduate of Dupuy de Lome, she is the daughter of
Spencer and Annick Tidman.
“Ashley’s on court poise and demeanor is superlative," said
Bartlett. "While putting pressure on her opponents with powerful
shots and quick court coverage, she demonstrates only the highest level
of sportsmanship. She has the ability to immediately put her own needs
aside and completely focus on what is good for the team or for another
player on the team.”
