Trinity Beats Cornell 6-3 in Potter Quarters

February 14, 2014 - Cambridge, Mass. - The Trinity College Bantams advanced to the College Squash Association (CSA) National Men's Team Championship (Potter Trophy) Semifinals this afternoon with a 6-3 victory over the Cornell University Big Red at Harvard University.  Defending National Champion Trinity, seeded No. 2 in the eight-team field, improves to 17-1 with its second win in a row and will face the No. 3-seeded Yale University Bulldogs in the semifinals at Harvard tomorrow at noon.  No. 7-seeded Cornell falls to 9-6 with its second 6-3 setback this season against the Bantams, and will play No. 6-seeded Rochester in the consolation round tomorrow.

Trinity received 3-0 victories by senior co-captain Matthew Mackin (Greenwich, Conn.), junior Vrishab Kotian (Mumbai, India), and rookie Affeeq Ismail (Kuching, Malaysia).  Bantam junior John Lamont (Montreal, Quebec) and sophomore Zeyad Elshorafy (Alexandria, Egypt) posted 3-1 triumphs.
