Five Bantams Named To All-NESCAC Men's Teams by David Kingsley

- Trinity College juniors Karan Malik (Mumbai, India) and Miled Zarazua
(Mexico City, Mexico) were each named to the 2014 New England Small
College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) Men's Squash All-Conference First
Team, while Bantam junior Vrishab Kotian (Mumbai, India) and sophomores
Zeyad Elshorafy (Alexandria, Egypt) and Juan Vargas (Bogota, Colombia)
graced the All-NESCAC Second Team. Trinity, coached by Paul Assaiante
(20th Season), finished as the College Squash Association (CSA)
National Team Championship Runners-Up with a 2-1 record at the Potter
Trophy Tournament at Harvard over the weekend, and totaled an 18-2
record for th year. The Bantams also captured their eighth consecutive
NESCAC Championship title earlier this month.
Malik, a two-year
starter and a 2012-13 All-NESCAC Second Teamer, is 12-6 as Trinity's
No. 2 player this winter. A graduate of Bhowam's High School, Malik is
majoring in economics at Trinity. He is the son of Rowinder and Kirouh
Malik. Zarazua, a three-year starter, rose to the top of
Trinity's lineup this season and has posted a 9-9 record. He was a
2012-13 CSA All-American Second Team and a 2011-12 All-American First
Team selection, and finished 2012-13 as the No. 19-ranked player in the
nation. Zarazua is making his third straight appearance on the
All-NESCAC First Team. A graduate of Mexicana Americana, Zarazua is
majoring in history. He is the son of Armando Ramirez and Rosalia
Sanchez.
Kotian, a three-year
starter, is enjoying a 15-4 record as Trinity's No. 3 player this
winter. A repeat member of the All-NESCAC Second Team, Kotian won the
Malloy Division title in the 2011-12 CSA National Singles Championship
Tournament. He is a graduate of Lady Andai High School and is the son
of Rajendra and Shocha Kotian. A two-year starter, Elshorafy
leads Trinity in wins with 18 against just two losses this season. A
graduate of the Taft School in Connecticut, he is the son of Hanan and
Khaled Elshorafy. Vargas is a two-year starter, a 2012-13 CSA
All-American Second Team honoree, and an All-NESCAC First Team
selection a year ago. he is 13-3 this winter, after finishing 2012-13
as the No. 13-ranked player in the nation. A graduate of Colegio San
Carlos, he is the son of Raul Vargas and Martha Heredia.
