Job Description Seattle Urban Squash
(SUS) seeks a dynamic Executive Director who combines administrative
and interpersonal skills to provide leadership, oversight and direction
to the organization. Our ideal candidate is visionary, multitasking and
detail oriented, and possesses business development, fundraising,
management, and organizational leadership skills.
Program Description Seattle Urban Squash
is a 501(c)3 nonprofit foundation. Its mission is to help kids from
underprivileged backgrounds grow into college students and realize
their full potential in life though squash coaching, academic tutoring,
and community service. Founded only one year ago, SUS has grown quickly
into a full-fledged program with 10 students in its first class and
more to come next year. The program includes a healthy board of
directors and advisory board, 20+ dedicated volunteers, and a growing
network of donors and supporters.
SUS is modeled on the
National Urban Squash and Education Association (NUSEA) criteria. NUSEA
has 14 member programs around the country and more on the way. It
enrolls over 1,000 students and has sent graduates to over 160
different universities. Even after only one year, SUS is close to
fulfilling the NUSEA criteria and will continue to strive for NUSEA

Responsibilities: · Organize
implementation of the program pillars, including squash recruiting and
instruction, educational curriculum including homework assistance,
academic enrichment and standardized test preparation, organizing
community service and cultural outings. · Manage Academic Director and Athletic Director · Mentor and volunteer recruitment for all aspects of the organization. · Manage all
financial, budgetary and administrative aspects of the organization
including budget creation and compliance, financial reporting to Board
and requisite governmental agencies, accounting, auditing, database
management · Manage and secure
annual operating and endowment fundraising to include oversight of
grant writing, annual fund, major individual and corporate gifts
campaign, matching grants, and annual fundraising event(s). · Maintain key
community partnerships with school(s), students and their families,
community service sites, practice facility, volunteers. · Represent the organization in media outreach. · Maintain an active website and social media presence. · Attend and provide
necessary reports to quarterly Board of Directors meetings. Engage
Board members in active participation of management and decision making
for the organization. · Act as liaison to
NUSEA, the National Urban Squash and Education Association
(www.nationalurbansquash.org) to learn from and contribute to best
practices, and promote national expansion of the urban squash program
prototype.
Professional and Personal Qualification: · Bachelors Degree required · Experience teaching
and/or working with children, especially at-risk youth, for at least
one year after college is highly preferable · Proficiency or fluency in Spanish preferred · Excellent written and oral communication skills · Must be energetic, upbeat, and enthusiastic about SUS mission · A passion for, belief in and devotion to urban youth development · Ability to get stuff done without too much oversight · A passion for the game of squash · Exemplary organizational and time management abilities · Ability to coach squash · Be able to grow with the organization · Drive, enthusiasm, energy, flexibility, endurance, humanity

· Experience in or potential to develop fundraising expertise · Experience in or potential for board development · Experience in or potential to develop organization management expertise · Candidates must have a valid driver’s license and be comfortable driving a 15-passenger van.
Hours and schedule During the school year
(Sept – mid-June), the work day typically begins at 11AM and ends
around 7PM Monday through Saturday with one weekday off. Summer hours
will depend on programming but will include similar work weeks. Vacation time will be
negotiated during offer but will include a minimum of 20 days paid time
off with most major US holidays off.
