Women’s Pro Doubles Tour Picks Up Today In St. Louis by Rob Dinerman

--- The WDSA women’s pro doubles tour resumes this weekend with the
fourth event on the 2013-14 schedule, the inaugural $10,000 St. Louis
Open, hosted by the Missouri Athletic Club. This tournament, the first
on the WDSA circuit since the early-December U. S. Open, will
jump-start a busy spring/summer period in which there will be
forthcoming stops in Denver, Sea Island, Florida, Chicago, New York and
South Hampton. Six teams will compete in St. Louis, with the sister duo
of Narelle Krizek and Natarsha McElhinny the top seed and No. 2 seeds
Heidi Mather and Victoria Simmonds also byed to Saturday evening’s
semifinal round. There will be two quarterfinal matches Friday night,
with the Philadelphia pairing of Amy Milanek and Dawn Gray leading off
against Fernanda Rocha and Karen Jerome, following which Meredeth Quick
--- making her return to the competitive fray after missing the fall
tournaments with a shoulder injury --- and Steph Hewitt will contest
the bottom-half quarterfinal against Joyce Davenport and Larissa
Stephenson. The final is scheduled for Sunday morning at 11 AM.
