- Camille Serme has been named Squash Player’s Female Player of the
Month for February after winning the Tournament of Champions for the
first time in her career in January.
Along the way the 27-year-old fifth seed upset world no.2 Nouran Gohar
3/1 in the quarter-finals, world no.1 Nour El Sherbini 3/1 in the
semi-finals and fourth seed Laura Massaro 3/2 in a thrilling final.
The French international’s stunning run enabled her to complete a PSA
Tour World Series and American double, as she won her last World Series
event in the USA in October, namely the U.S. Open.
“I can’t believe it,” said Serme afterwards. “Winning this title and
winning two World Series titles in a row, beating the world no.1 and
no.2, and coming from 2/1 down to beat Laura, it is absolutely amazing.
“I’ve been working hard in training and to see it all pay off like this is so encouraging – I’m delighted.”
