Background
Seattle Urban Squash (SUS) seeks a dynamic Executive Director who combines administrative and interpersonal skills to provide leadership, oversight and direction to the organization. Our ideal candidate is visionary, multitasker, detail oriented, and possesses business development, fundraising, management, and organizational leadership skills.

Program Description
Seattle Urban Squash is a 501(c)3 nonprofit public charity. Its mission is to help kids from underprivileged backgrounds go to college and realize their full potential in life though squash, academic tutoring, and community service. Founded in January 2013, SUS has grown quickly into a full-fledged program with 14 students with 4 days of rigorous after school program spanning 5 schools in North Seattle and more to come in following years. The program includes an engaged board of directors and advisory board, 30+ dedicated volunteers, and a growing network of donors and supporters.

SUS is modeled on the National Urban Squash and Education Association (NUSEA) criteria. NUSEA has 20+ member programs around the country and worldwide and more on the way. It enrolls over 1,000 students and has sent graduates to over 160 different universities. SUS is close to fulfilling the NUSEA criteria and achieving full NUSEA membership will be one of the mid-term goals for its Executive Director.

SUS has a healthy and rewarding partnership with Seattle Athletic Clubs in Northgate and Seattle Downtown that provide its facility for Squash practice and Academic lessons for all SUS kids, staff and volunteers.

Responsibilities:
Organize implementation of the program pillars, including squash recruiting and instruction (preferred), educational curriculum including homework assistance, academic enrichment and standardized test preparation, organizing community service and cultural outings.
Manage and secure annual operating and endowment fundraising to include oversight of grant writing, annual fund, major individual and corporate gifts campaign, matching grants, and annual fundraising event(s).
Manage Academic Director and Athletic Director; Recruit and mentor volunteers for all aspects of the organization.
Liaison with SUS accounting firm and Manage all financial, budgetary and administrative aspects of the organization including budget creation and compliance, financial reporting to Board and requisite governmental agencies, accounting, auditing, database management
Maintain key community partnerships with school(s), students and their families, community service sites, practice facility, volunteers.
Represent the organization in media outreach and maintain an active website and social media presence.
Attend and provide necessary reports to quarterly Board of Directors meetings. Engage Board members in active participation of management and decision making for the organization.
Act as liaison to NUSEA, the National Urban Squash and Education Association (www.nationalurbansquash.org) to learn from and contribute to best practices, and promote national expansion of the urban squash program prototype.

Exemplary organizational and time management abilities
Be able to grow with the organization
Drive, enthusiasm, energy, flexibility, endurance, humility
Excellent written and oral communication abilities
Experience in or potential to develop fundraising expertise
Experience in or potential for board development
Experience in or potential to develop organization management expertise
Valid driver’s license and be comfortable driving a 15 passenger van
Ability to coach squash (preferred)

Compensation:
SUS offers a full time competitive salary commensurate with the candidate’s skill and experience expected to be in 40-50K range. The compensation also includes an attractive bonus (up to 20% of base pay) tied to achieving fundraising self-goals for the year. It also offers 4 weeks of paid annual vacation including 1 week in December, 1 week in Spring and 2 weeks in Summer when school is not in session.
