Bay Club of San Francisco Hosting Weekend Closed Circuit Satellite PSA Tournament by Kim Clearkin
March 20, 2014
- BCSF is hosting the MPM Capital BCSF Pro Open, Closed Satellite PSA
Tournament, sponsored by NorCal Squash starting tomorrow (Friday). The
first of this level to be held in the USA, this tournament brings
together PSA squash with the best juniors, best adult players and
teaching pros in the area.
This is a great
opportuity on many levels. Aspiring US Squash member PSA pros can
qualify for a tournament and gain those important ranking points which
will elevate them up the rankings and allow them a chance to qualify
for Challenger level events. The areas best junior players can also
benefit from playing at such a high level, above the typical junior
event and also gain a PSA ranking should they so wish. Adult players
can pit their skills against the local pros and Teaching pros can show
their expertise outside of a lesson court.
The Bay Area Squash
community is looking forward to a feast of squash this weekend at the
Bay Club SF and is hoping that local pro Charlie Johnson can outwit and
outlast fellow pro Jack Jago and local rival Ricardo Lopez. Portland
Adam Perkiomaki rounds out the top 4 seeds. Juniors Gabriel Morgan and
Bransten Ming along with teaching pros Gareth Weber and Doug Compton
may create some upsets which will make for some interesting matches.
This is the first of a
series of these level of events which are creating a buzz in the Bay
Area. A truly galvanizing tournament, this is an excellent addition to
the squash events availabe to adults and juniors alike in the area.
Running concurrently with a Junior Silver these matches are sure also to inspire the next generation.
