About Capitol Squash
Capitol Squash is an after-school program for Hartford youth at Trinity College. Capitol Squash serves 40 youth from Hartford by providing them both rigorous academic and athletic enrichment. The mission of Capitol Squash is to empower youth of Hartford to reach their potential as athletes, students, and engaged citizens.
About the Position
Capitol Squash seeks a committed Squash Coordinator who has a passion for changing the lives of at-risk youth. The Squash Coordinator will support the youth of Hartford by managing a year-round squash program and planning and implementing practices at Trinity College’s Ferris Athletic facilities. The Squash Coordinator will work closely with the Executive Director to ensure the successful development, planning, and administration of the program. The successful candidate will bring a passion for inspiring, mentoring, and guiding urban youth as well as a strong background in squash and coaching.

Responsibilities
Plan and administer daily after-school squash and fitness sessions practices for 40 students across four grades with an emphasis on development and fun 
Build strong relationships with inner-city students and their families, through constant interaction including phone calls and visits
Recruit, train, and manage volunteer coaches in teaching of squash and how Capitol Squash works with youth – ensure a 4:1 ratio of youth to coaches
Work closely with the Executive Director to meet the needs of your teams and ensure a fully integrated curriculum (education, health, and life-skill)
Record, track and evaluate daily progress (respect, participation, effort)
Oversee all equipment and uniform purchasing and distribution
Coordinate squash component of fall 2016 tryouts.
Communicate with families and staff about issues related to student effort and development
Schedule and coordinate team squash matches and individual tournaments for players as appropriate
Coordinate team trips to National Urban Team and Individual Championships and other tournaments
Recruit, coordinate, and implement summer camp program and broker external summer camp opportunities for students
Collect and update paperwork for students such as parent contracts, physicals, and program fees
Assist with academic sessions and tutor students
Collaborate and communicate with Capitol Squash staff, families, and community partners
Coordinate community service projects
Drive students to and from their schools to, and to and from matches, team trips, community service projects, summer camps, etc.
Manage donor and volunteer database  
Other duties as assigned

Other Expectations:
We expect all staff at Capitol Squash to be communicative with all stakeholders, disciplined and engaged in their work, and open to receiving and giving feedback in order to constantly strive to do excellent work.
Must have a valid driver’s license and willingness/ability to drive students in 15‐passenger vans

Qualifications:
Experience coaching squash and/or working with inner city youth
Substantial squash playing experience
Outstanding speaking, interpersonal, and leadership skills
Able to work Monday-Fridays, and most Saturdays
Adaptability, creativity, and initiative-taking
Project management, interpersonal, organizational and networking skills critical
Sensitivity to different cultures and communities with a commitment to youth development
Conversational spoken Spanish preferred
Hours :
• School Year: Monday-Thursday 10am-6:45pm, Friday:  1:30-6:45pm, Saturday: 9am-1 pm
• Summer: Monday-Friday: 9am-5pm
• 10 full weekends
• Hours are subject to change
