2012 US Open Prize Money To Be At Record High from USOS Media

With six months to go until the 2012 Delaware Investments U.S. Open
Squash Championships, U.S. SQUASH has announced that this year’s event
will offer the highest prize money ever.
The prize money will total $185,000 between
the men’s and women’s competitions which is a record for the event
since its inception, and also maintains it as one of the most highly
rewarded squash events in the world.
This year’s U.S. Open will again form part
of the World Series tour for both the Professional Squash Association
(PSA) and the Women’s Squash Association (WSA).
“The increased prize money reflects the
success of the 2011 U.S. Open, and is excellent news for the players
and supporters of the event,” said Kevin Klipstein, CEO of U.S. SQUASH.
“As one of the biggest squash championships
in the world, we aim to provide not only a professional and prestigious
world class event, but also prize money that reflects the prominence of
the competition and its participants.”
The 2012 Delaware Investments U.S. Open
Squash Championships will be held at Drexel University in Philadelphia
from October 4-12.
The event attracts the world’s top
professional players, as well as passionate fans from across the United
States and around the world.
The U.S Open will be broadcast globally to
a cumulative potential audience of over 1.2 billion on a combination of
major terrestrial and cable/satellite channels and Squash TV.
Tickets to the 2012 U.S. Open will go on sale from May 1.
