US Colleges Reportedly To Return To Hardball Play for 2013-14 Season from DailySquashReport.com
April 1, 2013
- In a stunning development, US colleges will switch to the North
American hardball for all competitive singles play beginning September
1st, according to NHCAS president Bryce Livingstones.
"There gets to be a point where enough is enough," Livingstones said.
"All these foreign guys, they're coming in and dominating. That wasn't
the way we scripted it twenty years ago when we changed over."
NHCAS vice-president Martha Proctorr said, "We were a bunch of idiots
to switch versions, to be honest. The hardball sounds so much better
when it hits the front wall. Plus you don't have to be as fit."
The switch to hardball will reportedly include a return to PAR-15
scoring. It has
not been determined whether courts will be modified back to the
standard 18 1/2-foot hardball width, though that shouldn't be an issue,
according to Proctorr. "We can always string a ribbon at the 18.5 mark
if we have to. Everyone will get the idea."
As a result of the announcement, several foreign players have
reportedly submitted preliminary intentions to transfer to Canadian
universities.
"Good," said Livingstones.
Proctorr was asked if today's racquets work with the hardball. "Not at
all," she said. "The racquets are too damn powerful. But at the end of
the day, you want to be playing the right game out there between the
lines. Whether it works or not, that's irrelevant."
