Daily Squash Report is pleased to announce it has been named the prestigious Eisenhauer Award recipient for 2017-18.

The Eisenhauer Award has been presented annually since 1952, when it was initiated by the University of Missouri School of Journalism.

Past winners include Sports Illustrated, Field and Stream, Runner's World and USA Today Sports Weekly.

Daily Squash Report edged ESPN.com and The Bleacher Report for the top slot.

"To say we're thrilled is an understatement," said DSR publisher Ted Gross. "We founded the site 7 years ago with the intention of providing a small measure of entertainment each morning for commuters. Needless to say, we've exceeded expectations."

Eisenhauer Award spokesperson Kathryn Woolcotter said the award goes to the organization that best exemplifies the confluence of traditional journalistic standards and audience interaction.

"It's a difficult call every year," she said. "We are honored to have discovered and selected the squash report."

Gross said he was assembling the next morning's routine postings Thursday afternoon when he received the Eisenhauer call.

"People say things happen for a reason," he said. "When Amanda Sobhy blocked me on Twitter, that ticked me off, but at the same time it fired me up. This demonstrates that motivation can be found in the most unlikely places."

Daily Squash Report has been published daily since May of 2011.

US Squash has not yet recognized the existence of DSR, but a proposal to do so was presented at a board meeting in February, which a well-placed source said is likely to pass by mid-2021.
