Shahin Makes It Three In A Row In Johannesburg by Howard Harding
April 21, 2014
- Teen sensation Nadine Ayman Shahin bagged her third Women's Squash
Association World Tour title in a row when she upset experienced No2
seed Kylie Lindsay in the final of the Women's Assore Central Gauteng
Open, the WSA Tour 5 event at Parkview Squash Centre in Johannesburg,
South Africa.
The 16-year-old from
Cairo - who began her 12-match unbeaten run at the Geneva Open in
Switzerland last month - dismissed two higher-seeded compatriots,
including top seed Salma Hany Ibrahim, to claim a surprise place in the
Johannesburg final.
Lindsay, the
30-year-old world No52 from New Zealand, reached the ninth Tour final
of her career after ending home interest in the semi-finals, where she
defeated Cape Town-based No3 seed Milnay Louw in straight games.
But there was no
stopping the Cairo youngster in the final. In their second meeting on
South African soil in just over a week, Shahin despatched Lindsay 11-2,
11-3, 11-8 to take the title - the third of her fledgling career.
