Lust Outlasts Beddoes For Toronto Title by Howard Harding
April 21, 2014
-It was seventh time lucky for England's Victoria Lust in the final of
the Women's Mayfair Open in Canada where the No2 seed outlasted top
seed Emma Beddoes in five games to record the sixth Women's Squash
Association World Tour title of her career - and the first ever win
over her higher-ranked compatriot.
Both players reached
the climax of the WSA Tour 10 event in its second year at the Mayfair
Racquet & Fitness Club in Toronto after straight games semi-final
wins.
World No37 Lust
(pictured above with runner-up Beddoes), looking for her first victory
over the world No23 after six defeats since January 2008, took the
opening game in the final - the 18th of her career - and endured two
energy-sapping tie-break games before finally clinching her 11-8, 5-11,
11-4, 11-13, 15-13 title triumph.
The upset marks Lust's sixth Tour title - but her first since 2012.
