April 23, 2012-
World #3 Nick Matthew has issued a statement on Twitter regarding a
negative comment he reportedly made about the refereeing during his
April 12th El Gouna International Open semifinal match against Ramy
Ashour.
Ashour won the match 11-9 in the fourth in
75 minutes and went on to beat James Willstrop for the title.
The $115,000 Super Series event was held at the Abu Tig Marina in El
Gouna, Egypt.
Matthew's
Statement:
"Sorry if it caused anyone any offence. No
excuses but the heat of the moment can sometimes be an emotional place!
"Feel like it's about time I apologised for
my '2 bounces in Egypt' comment. Was out of frustration, nothing else
& totally unjustified."
