New Zealand's Kylie LIndsay A Winner In Canberra For Fourth WSA Title by Matt Wagg
April 2, 2012- Kylie Lindsay wins her fourth WSA title after beating Melody Francis in the $5K ACT Open in Canberra, Australia.
The New Zealand international fought her way past a number of
Australian hopefuls on her way to the final, and was the only
non-Australian competitor to make it past the second round.
Lindsay beat Selena Shaikh in round two having receiving a bye through
the first round. The No2 seed then had a close battle with No5
seed Christine Nunn, which she closed out in four games. After a close
first game, Lindsay dispatched fourth seed Tamika Saxby in the
semi-final to set up the final against top seed Melody Francis.
Like her opponent, Francis had only dropped one game on her way to the
final, but with the match tied at one-game-all, it was the lower seed
who proved to be the sharper of the pair and closed out the win over
the higher ranked player.
