David Palmer Installed As Top Seed In Namur Legends of Squash from Squashsite365

- Recently retired former world number one David Palmer has been
installed as the top seed for the Namur Legends of Squash 2012, which
will be staged from 25-27 May 2012 on an all glass squash court in Hall
Octave Henry in Namur, the capital of Wallonia, in Southern Belgium.
The 2002 and 2006
World Champion from Australia, who played his last competitive match on
the PSA World Tour at the World Open in Rotterdam in November 2011,
will be making his first appearance on the Legends of Squash Tour in
the country where he lived for many years during his glittering
professional career. The legendary Aussie, who now resides in the
United States, will take on many-time Irish Champion Derek Ryan in his
opening match.
Canada’s Jonathon
Power, the 1998 World Champion who retired from the Tour when he was
still ranked world number one, is seeded second, and will kick off his
Namur Legends campaign with a duel against Scotland’s former world
number four Martin Heath. Squash Superstar Peter Nicol who won
Commonwealth Gold for both Scotland and England, will face business
associate Tim Garner in the first round, while John White, the
big-hitting former world number one from Australia, will take on
Englishman Simon Parke in the final opening match.
The first round
matches of the Namur Legends of Squash 2012, which is part of the
Legends of Squash Tour organised by Eventis Sports Marketing and Event
Engine Squash, will kick-off at 8.15pm on Friday May 25th. The four
first round winners will proceed to the semi finals on Saturday, whilst
the remaining four players will also compete over the next two days in
the 5/8 Play-Offs matches to further entertain the crowd.
