Union Club Takes the 6th Annual StreetSquash Cup from Street Squash Media
May 12, 2014
- On Saturday, for the sixth year in a row, players and fans convened
at the S.L. Green StreetSquash Center for the annual StreetSquash Cup.
Though everyone came to enjoy some excellent squash and delicious BBQ,
there was more to celebrate this year: teams combined to raise over
$1,000,000 to support StreetSquash.
The first round of
matches proved to be the most competitive of any year with the Union
Club and, for the third year in a row, the Racquet & Tennis Club
making it out of their pools in first place. Before the culminating
matches, everyone gathered to honor all of the work put into raising
funds. Andrew Fink was awarded the Founders Cup, given to the
individual who raises the most money, for his heroic efforts
fundraising for both the Union Club and University Club teams.
In the finals, Union
Club proved to be a deeper team, edging out the Racquet & Tennis
Club 5-1 to take the StreetSquash Cup. The competition was soon
forgotten over BBQ as everyone enjoyed the company and camaraderie.
Though the mood was celebratory, the question loomed: What will happen
at the 7th Annual StreetSquash Cup?
