Ottawa's Samantha Cornett Reports From London fromDailySquashReport.com

- Deep River, Ontario's popular Sam Cornett won the second of two
qualifiers today to advance to the prestigious first round of the
$95,000 WSA Allam British Open.
Cornett beat world #26
Line Hansen of Denmark 8-11 11-9 11-1 12-10 in 40 minutes and was
understandably thrilled in this report to DSR:
Best win of my career so far. And I'm so excited to have a crack at such a good player as Madeline!
Today was my day, I wasn't nervous, I wasn't too relaxed.
It took me a game to figure out that I could do it, but once past that one I didn't question it!
It took some serious
hard work to wear her down, I'd like to think I made some great gets,
and I think the longer rallies put her off a bit today. She made
some mistakes, and wasn't as patient as I expected her to be, as we've
played a couple of times in the past (neither of which went my way at
all).
So happy with my play today, hoping to keep it up and maybe even bring more tomorrow.
The other matches were
all very exciting, with so many upsets. I knew a lot of people
were hungry for the main draw, and I think the seeds felt the pressure
today.
